The Lions Club of Richmond Inc. (LCoR) partners with The Wyatt Trust (Wyatt) to distribute a portion of the Camden Park Op Shop proceeds to projects that target local youth development and engagement.
Why is this Program Important?
Recognising the growing challenge of youth inequality, financial disadvantage and potential disengagement, the program supports young people to develop the confidence, skills, opportunities and support they need to engage fully in community, education and employment. Youth engagement in community, education and ultimately employment is considered a key strategy for reducing the risk of longer-term financial inequality and potential poverty, an aspiration shared by Lions and Wyatt.
Project Goals
The types of project goals that we would expect to see in a successful application within this program include:
- Increased participation or engagement in school or early learning
- Increased vocational education skills
- Increased personal resilience, coping or wellbeing skills
- Increased participation in local community
- Increased engagement with family
- Improvement in public health indicators
- Increased digital access or literacy
Whilst not an exclusive list, a project which aims to achieve these types of goals is likely to positively impact the desired program outcomes of young people developing the confidence, skills, opportunities and support they need to engage fully in community, education and employment.
