Celebrating our Lions Club of Richmond’s 60th birthday last Saturday was truly a memorable experience. Over 400 shoppers hunted for bargains in our gigantic Op Shop, many of whom had never visited us before.
An on-site live broadcast by local Community Radio station, Adelaide’s 88.7 Coast FM, set a vibrant atmosphere with music and interviews. Amongst these were our Club President/Op Shop Manager, Dianne Goldsworthy, Club Secretary, David Frith and the West Torrens Council Mayor, Michael Coxon. Also interviewed were two donation recipients: Lions Hearing Dogs Australia and SAHMRI.
We had face painting and balloon modelling for the children, a free sausage sizzle provided by the Lions Club of Edwardstown and a mobile coffee van.
There were lucky door prizes and a 10% discount on every item in our shop.
Our customers seemed to enjoy the friendly and welcoming spirit of the shop and appreciated the efforts of many volunteers across the years in providing a significant service to our local Community.
